How totem got started
I founded TOTEM Acupuncture, 16 years ago when I was a newbie to Kansas City. I’d made the choice to start an Acupuncture practice here based my experience here as a guest to family friends. My meetings with other great integrative health practitioners and my impression of the vibrant arts and creative community here sealed the deal and I set up shop in Mission, KS. Today almost 2 decades later,I’ve had the privilege of serving thousands of patients and their families in my private practice and KU Integrative medicine center. Today I’m located in Leawood Kansas.
My philosophy of healing is ‘ treat the whole person.’ This is why I grow to know my patients, their families and their life circumstances. My loyalty to my patients is as strong as their loyalty to my practice and I’m very grateful. My Chinese medical practice goes beyond needles as I am a great proponent of education. I share my knowledge freely including resources, lifestyle recommendations, and my unique referral network of other integrative practitioners in Kansas City and beyond. On the personal side
I am a INFJ ( Intuitive, Feeling,judging) in the Myers Briggs personality system. This type is also called the counselor which means although I have training to back it up, I’ve been innately doing the work that I do since childhood. I love what I do and a lot of my free time is spent learning and developing new systems to help folks. The arts, nature and colorful, creative people inspire me. People tell me that my personality helps give them a sense of stability and security. I am also a Virgo which is an earth sign, which explains my lifelong love of cooking, baking, ( feeding people), decorating, gardening, and especially cuddling with my two boys Campbell, Eliot, and our cat named Little K..
